Google Sheets add-on

Zyfy for Sheets

Zyfy for Sheets is a Google Sheets add-on that enriches UK postcodes and vehicle registrations with real data, directly inside your spreadsheet. Call postcode and vehicle intelligence as regular Sheets formulas — no exporting, no separate dashboard, no copy-pasting between tabs. Type a formula, get real data back.

How it works

1

Get an API key

Sign up free — no credit card — and configure your key once via Extensions → Zyfy for Sheets → Configure API key. Choose whether it should follow you to every sheet you own, or apply to just this one — useful for a shared spreadsheet you don't own, or to deliberately use a different key on one sheet. It's never shown in full again once saved, only a masked prefix, same as your Zyfy dashboard.

2

Write your first formula

Every lookup is one formula. There's no bare "give me everything" mode — you always name the exact field you want, so your output never silently changes shape when Zyfy adds new signals later.

=ZYFY_POSTCODE(A2, "signals.flood.riversSea")
=ZYFY_POSTCODE(A2, "signals.crime.rateBand")
=ZYFY_VEHICLE(B2, "signals.motStatus")
=ZYFY_VEHICLE(B2, "summary.buyRecommendation")
3

Find field paths without memorising them

Field Picker is a searchable, categorised browser covering all 80+ postcode fields and 80+ vehicle fields — flood risk and crime bands through to NCAP safety ratings, fleet failure benchmarks and MOT history trends. Click any field to copy its exact path, then paste it straight into your formula.

4

Enrich a whole column in the background

Don't drag a formula down thousands of rows — Google caps simultaneous custom-function calls at 30 per user, so a large drag can trip a generic error unrelated to Zyfy. Bulk Enrich submits your selection as a background job instead, and it's four clicks from selection to filled column:

  1. Select your postcodes or registrations, click Set input range.
  2. Click the cell your results should start from, click Set output location.
  3. Choose your fields — drag the chips to set column order — and turn on a header row if you want one.
  4. Hit Start. Progress shows live; cancel any time and nothing partial ever gets written — it's all or nothing, never a half-filled column.

Built for real spreadsheet work

Set it up once, not every time you run it

  • Default fields, your choice. Bulk Enrich pre-selects a sensible starting set of fields, but you can customise exactly which fields — and in what order — it pre-selects every time, saved to your account.
  • Header labels you control. Every field gets a sensible default header ("Average Property Price (£)" instead of the raw averagePrice path) — pre-filled, and fully editable if you'd rather call it something else.
  • Auto-retry for rows still enriching. Occasionally a row's data is still being fetched behind the scenes. Turn on auto-retry once and Bulk Enrich will quietly re-check those rows for you, up to three attempts, instead of leaving gaps.

Who it's for

Anyone who already works with UK postcodes or vehicle registrations in a spreadsheet — this is a general-purpose lookup, not a tool built for just one job. A few examples of where it gets used:

Property & lettings

flood risk, crime rate band, deprivation decile and property price trend for a whole list of addresses in one bulk run — the same due-diligence checks you'd otherwise do one postcode at a time.

Vehicle trade & fleet

MOT pass rate, mileage-vs-fleet-average, dangerous defect history and a derived buy recommendation across a whole list of registrations before you commit to a purchase, not just the one car in front of you.

Research & analysis

postcode-level demographic, environmental and deprivation signals for academic or market research, without building a separate data pipeline first.

Not one of these? If postcode or vehicle data already shows up in your spreadsheets, it's for you too — that's the whole point of a formula that just returns a value.

Getting started

Requires a free Zyfy API key. The free tier is enough to try formulas immediately — bulk enrich needs Starter tier or above.

Common errors

No API key configured

Set one up: Extensions → Zyfy for Sheets → Configure API key.

API key invalid or revoked

Check your dashboard — it may have been rotated, or the subscription lapsed.

Northern Ireland (BT) postcodes are not supported

NI requires a separate data licence Zyfy doesn't hold.

Monthly quota reached

Resets on your billing date, shown in the message. Upgrade for more.

Rate limit hit

Calling faster than your plan allows — wait a few seconds. Bulk enrich already paces itself.

Field "..." not found

Check the path in Field Picker — a typo or the wrong product is the usual cause.

Google's daily request limit was reached

That's Google's own cap on your account, not Zyfy's — clears ~24h after your first request that day.
